I am the (proud?) new owner of another sizeable debt. But it's a good one! It's the queen size of the same (more or less) mattress that Mom has. The one that Heals All Ills and Is Just That Fucking Awesome. The one that means if I go to bed feeling sore, I won't wake up feeling WORSE. (Queen size because my feet hang off twin- and full-size mattresses and frankly, I like sleeping stretched out, not curled up into a ball.) I *may* look into a cash advance on my Visa to pay it off before year-end to avoid the 22% interest rate otherwise. Current plans include paying off said Visa in the next 2 paydays, then asking the credit union to up the limit substantially. I apparently have pretty decent credit, if the speed of authorizations like this is any indication.

This mattress, however, comes with an upgrade: the box spring isn't really a box spring (as the mattress does not need it - only coil-spring Sealy Posturepedic types do), but is, in fact, a storage system - 2 drawers per side that pull out, and when closed, look just like the box spring should. It's pretty swank. We also threw in a Tempur-pedic pillow, because that was awesomely comfy (though the beds don't do a thing for me). :D

This Saturday, barring any delays or backorders, I will have a mattress that I can sleep the whole night through on. And like everything else in this house, I will use it until it BREAKS. Or sags until I can only sleep somewhat comfortably on the outer edge of the damn thing. Anyway.

Also priced quality office furniture, and I can get the bookshelf, desk, hutch, and a cabinet for about $2K with delivery. Given that I need two 72" bookshelves at minimum, though more likely three, and another cabinet to hold my Tea items, this is actually a REALLY good deal when all is said and done for $3K-ish. [And before y'all suggest the wonders of Ikea, I would note that these shelves need to hold the weight of a few matched book collections, hard-bound with gold leafing a la the Encyclopedia. Ikea has yet to make a product that does this successfully, and the paperboard backing on most shelving units annoys the piss out of me.] This is a project that will wait, but it's at a place that sells for 50% of retail, so it's a swank deal. Especially as the desktop is a laminate instead of a varnish, which is Way More Practical given that I will be sewing, reading, eating, sleeping, computing, etc. on it.

[Note for reference later: I will be putting the desk setup on the wall where the bookcases are now, the sewing table under the window, and the bookshelves on the wall near the door. This will make Much More Sense.]

Still haven't ordered a desk chair, though I found the one I want at Staples (in blue; no thanks) - going to order a different fabric color and have it delivered to the house for all of $20 more (plus tax). And then I will have ONE chair in the office, instead of two, one of which is uncomfortable and the other is stationary. Oof.

Now, I need to get Mom out of her chair to go to the grocery store. We need foodz.
