wakeiseiyo: (Pensive - Sorceress)
Times are tough as hell, and my friend has been out of work for two years. She's come up with an innovative way to try and make a few bucks toward her mortgage payment, but she's running out of options and things to sell.

If you have a few bucks, would you toss them her way? Pass the link on if you'd like. There are other items in her shop, too - knitting needles, ribbon trim, SCA books by Sir Gillaume (Hilarious stuff), sunglasses, etc. Even a brand-new-in-box serger that I have no doubt would make her mortage payment if someone were willing to buy it. Maybe boosting the signal will find that someone?

Like I said, I generally avoid advertising stuff here, but I think this deserves a signal boost. Osanna has been a very good friend and always a welcome, friendly face whenever she's around. As far as I know, she doesn't have family other than her cats, so she's the sole breadwinner. :( If I had more money, I'd buy everything I could from her eBay shop. (I'll be picking up some lovely dichroic glass needles as a fun present for Mom next payday, I think, and some ribbon to make a silly apron for cooking class.)

L_S found a really good restaurant last night, Cafe Hiro. 5-star plating, too, for dinner entrees that averaged $15. If the other customers weren't such assholes, it would have been an even more amazing dining experience. (Seriously, people, the waiting list does have an order to it, and no, we don't care that you saw your friends there. Sauntering in and taking OUR table while it was being bussed was just dick. Instead of waiting 20 minutes, we waited 40.)

Also, sake that DOESN"T burn like jet fuel going down. VERY nice. (And as expensive as my meal, but...) Drank most of a bottle myself, which is a feat if you know my drinking habits - I ended up too drunk to drive home from L_S's place. Oops. :D

I really want to go back there and try something else, maybe the curry (though the waitress said that it was yellow, not red).

There's also a place that's 95% sush bar food two doors down that looks good, and a Chinese place with 'Grand Opening' over their door that only got one party of 2 the whole time we were waiting for our meal; it looked like a clean enough place, so they must not have gotten any decent advertising exposure.

$275 later, I am now a student with textbooks for the fall semester (this is after the $200 to register and the $30 for the parking permit). (TWO classes! WTF, people? FIVE classes at Oxy cost me $300.) I bought a grand total of THREE books today. To the point that I'm seriously considering dropping the Humanities 100, not because of the time [though four nights a week of evening commitments is a bit much] but because at $20 a unit, plus books, it's SPENDY. Oy.

I do plan on doing Credit/No Credit for the Hum100 class, though.

Ah well. My inner geek will be satisfied, I suppose. (I am glad to note that I looked at the next level Japanese textbook and could handle a lot of what I saw, but my basics are still too shaky to skip farther than where I'm registered now.)

Stuff! )

In other news, Firefox is being buggy about pane/maximizing settings when I swap between pages or tabs. Blargle.
And I'm stuck reviewing more apps. (My poor, poor eyes!)

Edit: Apparently, rich text means no LJ tags unless I can figure out the buttons other than user at the top. Huh.
