*thud* Misc. entries of the day.
Jan. 8th, 2005 09:08 pmThe ochakai went well; I goofed a bit on the closing bowl routine, but apparently did the first half (nearly) perfect, according to Sensei. I forgot to pull the bowl forward that little bit before I start making the tea, but that's only because I'm so damn big for the tea room having the bowl that close feels bunched and strange. Ah well. I remembered the big steps back part, which I was afraid I'd forget. So, many cookies and snuggles to
shin_gyo_so from the
urasenke_fans comm for the wonderful help! You saved my skin!
(Sadly, I cannot be saved from myself otherwise; Mom and I were *still* 20 minutes late. Dammit. My really farkin' fantastic Excuse: I didn't know my brand-spankin'-new-expensive obi was not, in fact, one complete pattern from end to end, but had a gap of about 5' of plain, blank backing that needed special folding. Thank gods the website I was looking at covered this bit. o.o:: For next time [and a translation project], I bought a Kitsuke Lesson book at the store that is chock full of nifty photos. So. )
But hey, I got admired and squee'd at all evening for my fantastically expensive outfit that was on crooked. So hey, next time I have to wear it, I'll at least know *how*. c.c'

naamah_darling, your little thingamagummit is, sadly, not in the mail yet; I ran out of time digging through the Japanese market this morning for items they didn't have in stock anyway, and couldn't make it to the post office. (I also have christmas shopping left. Dammit!)
Kitty's Errand List for reference:
* Post Office
* Bank
* Christmas shopping
* Kyoei in Torrance (Saturday?? I *NEED* to get some supplies or I'm never gonna look put together. Guh.)
* Online - tea grinder. [Spendy but necessary if I ever want tea on a non-lesson day, not to mention practicing on Mom.]

Dad's office looks good, at least; I took out the chair that he ended up sitting in (he had a bad back) and put the old, plushie office chair in its place -- and figured out how to make it lower, too! Yeyness. There's a twisty part at the base that looks more like it should be part of the chair than a knob-thing. Spiff, actually. Now the office doesn't look strange and crowded with too many chairs in it.
I still can't seem to get the computer to recognize the printer, though, and I've installed and everything. I really need to take that laptop to the shop for fixing; BvB thinks it's a RAM problem, and that's beyond my technical expertise, even on Macs. So. [Although I figure that's pretty good, given that all our other computers have simply died of old age this far. *knocks on wood* Morri, I'll get to the laptops, I promise! ]
-------
Dak-Dak, I'm gonna be there tomorrow, *BUT* I have to pick up my car at the shop first (yaaay letting yourself out through the window on rainy days!), and they don't open until 10a, plus paperwork and payment stuffs. So. I just might get to your place 11:15ish, rather than the 11? you mentioned via email. Or something.
