I needed that vacation.
I still need more, but that was a good chunk of unwinding done. There really is something to be said for getting away from it all - literally. SCA events are so awesome for leaving the modern world behind, including cell phones and work nonsense. Hell, Potrero has NO RECEPTION WHATSOEVER. It's awesome. No one can call me, and I sure as heck don't have to worry about ignoring the phone.
Still debating whether or not to call in sick tomorrow; I've been woozy for two days now, probably from exhaustion, and the drive home was 3 hours of veeeeeeery carefully NOT turning my head too quickly. Blah.
If I do go in tomorrow, guess what - I'm damned if I'll stay past five or arrive before 7:45, and if my supervisor takes issue, tough. I'm not going to enable the bullshit mentality of unpaid overtime that the execs seem to have around there. If she wants me to stay longer, she's going to sign for it. If she won't, I clean out my desk and take a well-deserved week off before calling temp agencies and starting fresh.
Am I still angry about the last few weeks? Yes. Did I know what kind of environment I chose to work at initially? (More or less) Yes. Was that a stupid mistake? Possibly - I wanted the job for the people I worked with; now the office politics have pushed me too damn far. My supervisor is, at some level, an enabler of all the drama and BS going on - perhaps not consciously, but she won't stand up to it and she'll stay late without pay far more often than EVER is necessary, as well as take on projects that have nothing to do with her position. Which means more work for me because she's busy with things directly unrelated to her post. Blah.
Have I had it with this job? YES.
[All that said, I'm going to give them at least a little bit of a grace period while I shop around for a new job - after all, we're supposed to be 'coming into big money' soon with some London investors. Given the number of times this carrot has been dangled about, I really doubt it, but... bonus time is coming up and damnit, I want mine. I earned that motherfuckin' check.
