Office Culture:
- Business Casual-bordering-on-professional dress
- Remarkably professional, to the point I just feel silly 'round here with my penchant for actually, y'know, enjoying my day. [Please smile, I promise it doesn't hurt...]
- Everyone has A. Job. and must not stray from it - this includes taking the initative ordering office supplies, I have found - just because I found the brand and felt we needed it, or saw a need for it, doesn't mean I should have ordered it. (Uhm, hello, we had one hole punch that could handle MAYBE 3 sheets, so I ordered a larger one that worked better. Why is this so damn bad? It was cheap, too - same price as the craptacular one!) Which means today I get to play the returns game. I hate that game.
- Phones - boring, blah, and they don't work for beans. It shouldn't be so damn hard to transfer a call, and yet... it is. o.o; I fail more often than I succeed at this. Aargh! I officially loath VoIP phone systems.
- Pace - it's supposed to be 'busybusybusy'. It's not. At all. Ever. [Shoot me?]
- Hours - most folks work 8-??? and clock insane amounts of overtime, I've noticed. I probably won't last, being a bit of a clock-watcher [there's no point in paying me a minute longer than you have to when I'm not doing anything, folks...], but I'm also a temp, so my hourly rate has about $10 added to it for them. They're probably glad I've had to vanish for appointments recently. Saves 'em money.
- Budget. We are on the most bizarre, high-end budget. I don't get it. Really. o.o; We must have nice! But it can't cost anything! [Then you won't get anything, folks!]
A great deal of ups to this place, and a handful of aggravating downs. We'll see.
