The tea party went well. Surprisingly well. I was rather expecting far worse after last Tuesday, but other than Sensei seeming to be in a rather bad mood for the first hour of the party (and the odd expectation that I'd brought the underpinnings for a student after being told not to), it was pleasant and there was a lot of laughter. I even won a prize, on a quiz that was 50% music and pop culture, no less. o.O: (Which are very much not my forte.)
Today was a Japanese study session - that went well, too. And there were cutesy 'ganbatte' presents - flash cards and food-shaped erasers. Everyone seemed pleased, at least. [Though the failing student who was supposed to be the star and focus of the show never actually arrived. D'oh.]
Tomorrow a.m. is my insurance exam (eeeeeeeeeek!!!) and Wednesday is my Japanese final, that's 25% of my grade. Oof. Thursday is the last Humanities test, which I think I'm just going to take cold and see what happens (she drops the lowest score, so right now, I either go and do poorly, or don't go at all and the grade still won't count - either way, there isn't time or energy to study for it.)
Oh, and that terrible, awful, no-good, very bad paper?
75 points.
Out of 75.
Following directions was apparently about 50 of those points, presenting a coherent essay (if not well-written or especially thoughtful) the other 25. Even high on Sudafed and Nyquil, I've been drilled too often to not do that much. [*shakes fist at Oxy*] My final grade in that class is 379 points out of 381. (And now, because I'm a nerd and absurdly pleased that I did well, I wish I'd done the 10-point extra credit assignment, because having 389 points out of a possible 381 is just silly. I thrive on silly lately.)
Japanese is another matter - I may have to do that extra credit, because even after having it out with the teacher, I don't think she's going to correctly tally the grades. She seems rather that sort. (Raging egomaniac with a basic grasp of the language? Check. Students who know more than the basics? Check. We officially have a recipe for disaster.)
Oh, and I bought more miniature food! (Not on eBay - this is what's at the asian markets). I now have a cookie set and strawberry layer cake. I'll take pictures sometime if I ever dig out my camera and have the balls to unwrap it all (tiny pieces! I'll lose them! Aaagh~!)
And Naamah, I haven't responded to your email yet, and I should, but well... I just now stopped to breathe this week, so... yeah.
