If anyone is curious as to just what my room-in-progress looks like...
I would also like to point out that the picture of my offce? That would work as a 'before' picture of my room, too, if you consider the fact that the furniture in my room didn't even match before I started on my now-4-years-in-the-making re-do. So.
Those among you who are squeamish about messy rooms? Don't click. (Nothing that screams 'biohazard', but I can assure you that nothing is especially tidy or organized. There's 26 years of living crammed into about 200 square feet. So.)
My color scheme, more or less - add dark-finished wood and some ivory colors (like the sheets on the bed).

My new, 36" high bed, with the sheets and duvet we bought 2 years ago, having been planning to replace the mattress since then. Yes, my room is shaped irregularly.
The "look" I'm going for (sans brass lamp that needs to find a new home soon):

My new nighstand! (Frosted glass door to hide the contents will be in stock next week...)
And the office... the 9x10 office that has to do EVERYTHING else the bedroom does not... (It's worse than ever because I had to pull so much out when the new bed arrived. You can see the dorm fridge I've been using as my nightstand on the lower left.)

If it's any consolation, the floors are vacuumed regularly, and what surfaces can be accessed have been dusted. There's just no room for things, at least until the closet can be re-done. I'm losing valuable storage space in there because of the lousy layout. :(
Scary, isn't it? That used to be a pink and blue and white and traditional French furniture'd little girl's room.
