Can someone loan me $1500?? [So pretty!!!!!!!]
(I also found a furisode set, already sold [dammit!] that would have fit - 142cm sleeve to sleeve, 171cm long. Damn.) All the other search results for my sizing are men's yukata and juban. And I'm not so hot on the dull blue/brown/grey color scheme lately. [Though I *am* almost tempted to find a men's kimono in my arm width and height, and maybe just adjust the sleeves a bit with a needle and thread... If it fits properly around the hips, well... Yeah. Not letting the world know I'm wearing two pair of control-top spandex leggings just to get into my kimono is always a plus.]
Question: In the interest of sizing, what are the 'rules' on undergarments? Could I theoretically purchase a men's juban in order to manage the around-hip and sleeve-to-sleeve measurements? (Obviously not for formal wear like tea as much as modern 'fudging it' for a night on the town, where I won't flash everyone because my around-hip measurement is something ridonkulous like 51 inches.]
Also, does Ichiroya do custom work, or only vintage sales? I can't recall. Urgh. I'm trying to find somewhere that will sell me *reasonably* priced (under 400 bucks) kimono in my size (142x170+), which means that I'm getting custom work done like as not, and using the very selvage edges of the fabric bolts. [Example: the custom silk that I have, the guy was apologizing profusely because it was a whopping half inch too short in the sleeves. Goshdarnit, like I wasn't used to wearing the things at 3/4 or elbow length anyway while flashing the world. I think I can suffer through that half inch!]
Oh, and the insurance exam this morning? Passed it. Don't know by how much, but I didn't fail, so that's pretty sweet. The exam questions were WAY easier than the practice exam questions! (Way, way, way easier.)
